Buying Guide (2019 Onward)
This is a comprehensive buying guide for books and merchandise sold by our company for 2019 onward. We hope you love your purchase.
Books can be purchased through major or indie retailers in paperback, hardcover, and ebook format. They retail between $16-36 USD depending on the format and retailer and are generally printed in color with premium materials and we use fully recyclable / biodegradable materials for all of our products. Most books can be found in-store at Barnes & Noble, Chapters, and Books A Million and your best bet of finding a retailer closest to you carrying a book is to look up independent chain availability.
Our suggestion for international customers is to purchase through the book depository. Our books are also stocked in every local amazon warehouse, including China, and local prime delivery is available for each warehouse. We use major distribution for our books but international availability is limited. We have releases upcoming from artists in France and Spain, for example, and in-store availability will be countrywide for those titles but they are unique cases. If a book does well, we have plans in place to publish titles directly under a big five publisher for further international reach. We expect it with Regards Coupables, for example, but information will be available at that time (and we’ll update this buyer guide).
When creating a book we also create special editions and merchandise. Merchandise can be found at our official store, XXI (21) and through select retailers. Retailers that will carry merchandise include Amazon & Urban Outfitters. Each artist will have a shop on XXI moving forward and links / news will be available there and in our newswire. Special editions are sold on our store and through select retailers. Each edition has a very specific goal as listed below:
Hi-Resolution Editions: Versions of books that are identical to their retail counterparts but published at a much higher quality, making them art book quality releases. They are printed on a cotton / wood combine page that meets the ISO 9706 standard for permanent paper (meant to last forever). They retail for $40-60 USD.
Expanded Editions: Versions of books similar to hi-resolution editions but contain expanded content. They are printed on a cotton / wood combine page that meets the ISO 9706 standard for permanent paper (meant to last forever). They retail for $40-60 USD.
Archival Editions: Versions of books similar to hi-resolution and expanded editions but contain the entirety of a project from which a retail edition was cut down from. They are printed on a cotton / wood combine page that meets the ISO 9706 standard for permanent paper (meant to last forever). $60-100 USD.
Limited Editions: Versions of books that are specialty printed, generally available in-store only at select retailers, and retail between $250-$1000 USD. These are rare and an example is the Regards Coupables Limited Edition. Each page is embossed with black foiling instead of ink with a run of 250 units. Limited edition books are generally created using methods closer to lithography versus offset printing. The specifications are long and will be listed with each release. They are worth the money, in our opinion, and are meant to stand alongside books from publishers like Tachen.
Our retail books are at a quality we worked hard for over the past six months and perfect for 95% of consumers. We create these special editions as experiences for anyone that’s awaited a release or just wants something special to collect. We also have merchandise bundles with special editions sold at select retailers sold in refurbished crates for $120-180 USD:
We’ve worked with hundreds of artists over the years that have published through other publishers and will release merchandise with them exclusively. To do this we’ve rebranded our store XXI and made it a separate, non-publishing brand entirely. Most posts we make through our social media accounts will become merchandise collections of their own through the 777 brand as well .
Thank you for your interest in our books and products. We hope you enjoy whatever you purchase.
